SPARC Europe’s new service – Europe’s Open Data Champions – focuses on highlighting some of the persons who are driving Open Data forward in Europe’s academic communities.
Despite seeing international and national Open Data policy development growing across Europe, it is the research community, senior administration and library community who can create the cultural change necessary to embrace a new scholarly communication system.
SPARC Europe has brought a selection of people or ‘champions’ together in a new online showcase. This is a beginning and we are adding champions over a period of time. These champions are examples of Open Data leaders and setting a good example in Europe.
Professors, senior and early career researchers and administrators share their personal views on what still needs to be done for more Open Data and better research data management. They are helping change the hearts and minds of peers towards more openness. They tell us why and how – in their own words.
These are the people who have helped make Europe’s Open Access Champions happen.
